The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations embracing the format.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. While the decision is final, the GCA is still working out the specifics, including finding the best time slot for the tournament and determining the number of participating teams.
These domestic T20 leagues have become vital proving grounds for players hoping to catch the eye of IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra already offer local talent a platform to shine and potentially advance their careers. Many of these leagues are held in June and July, after the IPL season concludes in May.
