Smriti Mandhana Joins Elite Club with Landmark Century
Smriti Mandhana has cemented her place in cricketing history, becoming the first Indian woman to achieve centuries in all three international formats: Tests, ODIs, and T20Is.
This remarkable feat was accomplished during the first T20I match between India Women and England Women at Trent Bridge. Mandhana unleashed a breathtaking innings, scoring 112 runs off just 62 balls.
As captain, Mandhana led her team with a dominant display, smashing 15 fours and three towering sixes. Her aggressive yet controlled innings propelled India to a formidable score of 210/5 in 20 overs, marking their highest-ever T20I score against England.
Mandhana's historic knock also marked her maiden T20I century, completing a rare achievement that had eluded all other Indian women cricketers until now. Her century set an aggressive tone, as she expertly neutralized England’s top spinners, including Sophie Ecclestone, with fearless strokeplay.
The innings also featured valuable contributions from Harleen Deol, who scored 43 runs off 23 balls, and Deepti Sharma, who remained not out with 7 runs off 3 balls. India maintained a strong run rate throughout their innings. Lauren Bell was the most successful of England’s bowlers, taking three wickets.
Mandhana’s achievement places her among an elite group of cricketers, both male and female, who have scored centuries across all three formats of the game. This milestone is a defining moment not only for her career but also for Indian women’s cricket, inspiring a new generation of cricketers to dream big and break barriers.
With this commanding performance, Mandhana has once again demonstrated why she is the leading figure in Indian women’s cricket – consistent, fearless, and record-breaking.
